Almost Done!

I have been working on this vest for who knows how long and although it is still a work in progress it is almost done! I finished the armhole shaping and now i am working on the straps. I have decided to redesign the back of the vest to make it a bit easier for myself and also so that it will be finished quicker. I also had to use my own way of casting off for the armhole shaping because the pattern was a bit confusing.

Here it is!

To make this project a bit more difficult I have it on three different stitch holders and I am also working from both ends of the yarn. I had to do this because I didnt want to cast off the straps until I knew they were the exact size that I wanted them. If I need to add more length I can very easily start knitting away again without adding new yarn. This is the reason why I had to reconstruct the back of the vest but I think it will turn out really nice!

I am also currently working on the sleeves for a green lace heart sweater that I have been working on for a really long time along with a blue cabled cowl!

Heres to a cozy, warm, knit filled fall and winter!

A Few Projects

Heres a few of the projects I've been working on while juggling the two jobs.

First I finished the Seed Stitch bag, now I just need to sew on a nice button and put the lining inside. Im really happy with how it came out except the strap is a bit longer then I would like it but I can just tie it for a quick fix.

Next is the tea pot cross stitch ive been working on. I got the pattern last week and ive been spending quite a bit of time on it but so far it still doesnt really look like anything.
Ive also been branching out and working with wire and beads. Knitting with wire is extreamly hard for me but i really like the way it looks. I havent been able to get alot done because after two or three rows my fingers start to hurt really bad. So it is a work in progress.

And then there is the never ending lace vest. I promise I will finish it but its been moving along really slowly. Ive been telling myself just a few rows a day and pretty soon it will be done!

Things Come and Things Go

With school over you would think i would have had a lot of time to catch up on my crafting but unfortunately that is not the case. When one door closes another opens and that new door is the dreaded summer camp...Filled with hot days, 100 children running around and the always much anticipated super fun field trips I wont have much time for crafting. Working at the camp and at the Gallery leaves very little time to do the things that I want to do. However my lace vest has been slowly making progress and hopefully by the end of the month it will be done!

Tomorrow knitting class turns into Jewelry Making class but I have found a way to combine the two. I am going to attempt to do "wire knitting" which I am super excited about. I love the fact that you can combine the two to create something very rich looking. Hopefully pictures will be up soon.

But for now here are a few of the projects that I have slowly been trying to finish.
  • Vogue Knitting Lace Vest
  • Seed Stitch Bag
  • (hopefully starting) Taos Vest
  • (starting tomorrow) Wire Knitting bracelet.
Pictures will come soon (my computer wouldn't upload them v_v

Laser Tag!

Today we all took a little break and went Laser Tagging! We left school at about 11 and had a great time at Funtime America as we shot each other with fake lasers! Unfortunately I forgot to wear sneakers and I was tripping a lot but it was still a lot of fun! We figured we needled one last day to be children (although I think that laser tagging is super fun no matter what your age!) We asked the guy to take a picture of us in our laser tagging gear!

Im pretty exhausted from laser tagging so I haven't been able to knit a lot today but I did get a lot of my bag done last night until I ran out of yarn. My bag will have to be put on hold until I gather the energy to drive to the craft store.

I decided that i'm going to make a few alterations to the bag. I have decided against a button because I just can never find any buttons I like. I have also decided to make the strap a bit longer. I really like the pattern because it is very easily changeable. It is easy to make the bag bigger or smaller, a messenger bag or a handbag, you can also very easily add cables or little designs in it to make it a bit more special.

A Bag for Knitting

Every knitter needs a knitting bag! Unfortunately I do not have one...until know that is! I got the pattern from my knitting teacher Sandy and so far it is fairly easy. The whole bag is seed stitch and worked on circular needles. I'm using scrap yarn I had and size 11 circular needles. Since the yarn is really thick it should be a fairly fast project which is good that way i can continue working on the lace vest I started from a Vogue Knitting Magazine.
I'm hoping that the bag will be done soon that way I can use it for my other knitting projects! So
what projects are you guys making this week?
